For those of you who know me, know that I’m pretty bored at work these days. I’ve gotten this “Accounting” thing figured out. I’ve set up an operational workflow for our department that works quite well, with many thanks to my co-workers who help make it possible. So that makes for a lot of boring days for me. Just how excited can I get doing bank reconciliations, or preparing for the next month, or updating a Days Remaining cost report (don’t ask – it’s government related).
So how did I spend my Friday since my boss is out of the office? Other than completing said bank reconciliations, I sat in a meeting all afternoon. You may think that this is even more boring than Accounting stuff, but I learned some interesting things today. And I killed 4 hours. Whatever will I do on Monday?
From now on, I’ve decided I’m going to be a professional meeting participant. I can blame my lack of productivity on being too busy and in meetings all day. I can’t check e-mails because that is rude to fire up the laptop in meetings, and I will just have to delegate my current duties to my co-workers. Then what will I do when I quit going to meetings?
