Last night, James came into town so that we could go to WurstFest this weekend. (I am absolutely positive that that will be it's own blog in itself!) He brought with him his Christmas present from 2002 (yes, 2002) that was given to him by my mother.
Mr. Beer
Yes. A real live honest-to-goodness at home microbrewery. And even though it's been one year and 10 months since he received this thoughtful gift (and who wouldn't want a home brewery system?) we proceeded to make the first batch of homebrew.
Now, you've got to realize the details and meticulous process that actually comes with making beer. This ain't no top-popping, guzzling experiment. It's chemistry in the making that involves sterilization, boiling, vigorous mixing, and yeast hopefully being active. And James was so excited that I was plumb tickled crazy over his excitedness - he was THAT cute.
So anyway - for those of you who might actually want to taste this concoction, we have to let it ferment in the brewkeg for 7 days. Which, next Saturday we should be able to put it into the beer bottles (included with the set) and let it sit for yet another 7 days. And guess which day the 7th day falls on? Yes, it's a Saturday (as Genesis goes), but it's also JIMMY-UKAH. James' day of birth. Pretty convenient timing I must say.
I'll let you know how it all turns out. Assuming I don't have to make a trip to the ER.
