Today was my ASWA retreat at the current President's home in central Austin. Why I was spending 5 hours discussing my Women's Accounting group, is another subject entirely, especially since I have had a really long week at work, not to mention a LONG YEAR. I am a little surprised to look up and we're in our 8th week of the year.
Today's weather was quite dreary. Wet, damp, drizzly, cold and grey. And upon entering this woman's house (she and her husband have no children, no pets) we were asked to take our shoes off. And this really has me floored. What is with this phenomenon? I would never ask my guests to take off their shoes in order for me to save my almost-white/cream carpet. That is what the miracle carpet cleaner Folex is for - as well as steam cleaning. Life happens, and it sometimes includes getting messy. This is about the 3rd person in Austin whose home I have entered shoeless. Am I okay thinking that these people are just a bit cuckoo? Or should I too be more considerate of my carpet?

Perhaps they should hand out little sets of wings at their front doors so we can fly around their homes and not touch a thing...........why do they have guests?
Wearing shoes inside a home is very unhygeinic. Shoes pick up dust, chemicals, animal excrement and all manner of nastiness.
Removing shoes at the door will keep your house a good deal cleaner and probably make you feel more comfortable.
