Bookstore = Candy store

On my wishlist, I'd like to read Janet Evanovich's serial mystery books that involve the detective Stephanie Plum. And I didn't want to start at the current bestseller, which is #10 in the series, but the very first one so I could read how the characters evolve and become their own identities.

So, I went to the Milwood Austin Public Library, and the first book has been considered "lost." Off I went to Half-Price Books - and they don't have a copy. So I decided to go to Big Box Bookstore. Now, I choose Borders over Barnes & Noble for the very least in corporate-America experience. And they had a special publication in hardback of Janet Evanovich's first 3 books in this series. So, instead of spending $8 - I spent $23. And then, saw some other books that caught my interest. And walked up to the counter with more in my hand that intended when I walked in. And the salesperson advised me that the other 2 books were part of a special "Buy 3, get 2" that Borders was promoting. So, off I trotted off....because you know that I can ALWAYS use another book to read. And I found Anna Karenina by Tolstoy which is on my current Amazon wishlist.

I have found book heaven. Because I should have known better that when I walked into that paradise of the written word, I would have spent WAY more than I wanted. But books are like candy. And you can't just read one.
