This evening I ate the most remarkable meal I've eaten in quite a while. My Manager's Meeting dinner found us at The Melting Pot - a fondue restaurant. And Oh.My.God. Delicious. And definitely NOT a Weight Watchers friendly restaurant.
We started off with a few drinks. I had probably one of the best beers I've had in a while. I was in the mood for something a bit heavier than Miller Lite, so Bass was where it was at. Then, we started appetizers with a cheese fondue and spinach and artichoke fondue that you could dip an assortment of green apples, bread, and veggies. Then, on to a salad. I had a mushroom salad which was shaved mushroom slices with lettuce and parmesan italian dressing. I included a restaurant seasoning of garlic and wine. I sat beside 2 of my colleagues who are both mushroom lovers like myself. We agreed it was an awesome salad, unlike anything I'd had before.
Next - I ordered an entree that would give me a sampling of different meats: andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, & beef tenderloin. A smorgasbord if you will. I had 2 choices of fondue: a balsamic and garlic fondue and then a citrus and chicken broth fondue (I think!). You cooked your meats for about a minute or two, and then you could dip in various sauces. By far my favorites were the gorgonzola with cheese and the yogurt curry. The best recommendation from the waitress was the mushroom cap cooked in the fondue, and then putting the "Green Goddess" which was a cream cheese and chive mixture inside and letting it melt. HEAVENLY.
The final piece de la resistance: dessert. We had two choices: turtle flambe which was chocolate, caramel, and nuts - and the cookies & cream which was dark chocolate with marshmallow and cookie bits. Served for dessert were bananas, strawberries, coated marshmallows, pineapple, and cheesecake. Fondue delight.
The whole course was aptly described as "mouth-gasmic". Indeed!
