I had a similar motto back in 1998. It was my hope that I would be itch free in '99. Which, happened once it was determined I had an allergy to carba-mix compound. It's an agent by which cleaning agents, detergents, and latex are made. And, in case you are wondering - it was PANTYHOSE I'm allergic to. Causes my skin to literally crawl and itch like a sonofagun. It became decided for a fact when I went home to Sealy for 2 weeks over the Christmas holidays and wore no pantyhose. Itch free. Oh what a relief it is.
But now, I'm itching pretty much on my legs, shins, back of my kneecaps. Arms - tops and bottoms and back of my hands. My ribcage. My stomach. So it's a generalized itching. My initial course of treatment was to change soaps. Now I'm using Dove for Sensitive Skin and Lubriderm. Then, since it's now been more than a week since the change, I've purchased All Free and Clear, which I'm currently using to wash my laundry with. No fabric softener - so we'll see how that goes. And, I was recommended Eucerin. I need to be moisturized, so I've lubed myself up pretty good after my shower. I'm also taking Aveeno Colloidal Oatmeal baths on a daily basis. So - have no fear, I'm just really clean, even though I have a rash. Let's not forget that I'm also slathering on cortisone cream & calamine lotion (just in case).
Luckily, I've determined it's NOT poison ivy or poison oak. I've got a poison ivy vine in the backyard that met its maker (Jimmy & RoundUp) and is withering away. But, if the detergent change doesn't work, it may be something Oscar is picking up outside and bringing in to rub lovingly all over me. I just don't know. I'm trying to avoid the dreaded Dr. visit. But I'm afraid it's going to happen.
