I finally finished it. I undertook the reading of this book due to the historical significance of a black woman author writing during the 1930's. This book was a "thinker". It required much brain power to read as it was written in dialect.
Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston
I am mixed about this book. It dragged on a bit, but I enjoyed the main character's evolvement.
Not to detract from this book review, but I'm undertaking an even bigger book read. Marketed by Oprah's Book Club as a "Summer Read", I'm guessing it is going to take all summer long for me to read this book. Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy. A mere 800 pages. Book review coming October 2005. Hopefully.
