i stole that from kxan news.....
I'm scared. Ice storms freak me out. Okay, not so much freakin' out like a hurricane or tornadic activity, but it unnerves me.
Many things to think about when a TX ice storm is imminent. I also stole "imminent" from the Weather channel site. We're under a winter weather warning, which means severe weather likely, imminent, or happening. I'm getting my weather knowledge in aces today.
But things to think about (now that I am a homeowner) are frozen pipes. I even wrapped my outdoor pipes. Of course I was unprepared and did not have insulation. But, the poor man's way is to use newspaper. The unprepared woman's way is to use wrapping paper. Plus some towels I had. All wrapped with a trash bag and secured with electric tape. Yep, no duct tape either. I didn't have that in the gift wrap stash. Whatever works, right? We'll find out in the morning if I have running water or not. (keeping fingers crossed)
I'm assuming at 10:45 pm that going in to work isn't going to happen either. I went to work once during Ice Storm 2004 and I am NOT doing that foolish stunt again. Me, ice, driving, bridges - we don't work well together. I can VPN and do my homework because I brought stuff home with me this weekend in preparation for the weather.
So here I am, chillin' at home. Not budging off the couch if I have to. And running the water in my faucets, opening cabinet doors, and keeping the indoor temp at a mild 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm right there with ya babe. Me and the monkey are chillin' at home. I'm working and he's playing. It's just not fair, but at least I can work in my PJs.
