I have to laugh at myself when I go into a bookstore. I feel like a kid must in a toy store. I get a little dizzy, all relative thinking goes out my head, and I am a little bit of a zombie in sensory overload. I went yesterday to Half Price Books to buy 1 book for Lori's book club reading. They didn't have the book, so I decided to buy 3 others instead. But they were on my reading list, I swear!
I owe my love for reading to Joanne. I cannot read a book without passing it on. I rarely every keep books because growing up in The Bookstore in Sealy, we always read it and put it back on the shelf to be sold. Books are meant to be shared, passed around, thought about, talked about, chewed on and digested, and most of all enjoyed for their escapism. I used to be notorious as a child to never hear anyone if they were talking to me. I would be so deeply immersed into the book I'd block out the whole world around me.
Which, reminds me of some favorite quotes about reading:
Go to Hell, I'm reading! - unknown
When I get a little money, I buy books;
and if any is left, I buy food and clothes.
~ Desiderius Erasmus 1466-1536 ~
Read in order to live.
