Today, being a Monday, was quite unusual. Joanne was in my thoughts quite a lot today, and I remembered her memory today by reconnecting with a few people that I hadn't seen in a while.
My first phone call was from David, who I hadn't seen since before Christmas. And I updated him about some of my blogging entries, and directed him toward Steph's blog about Joanne's funeral.
My second phone call - a pleasant surprise - from Landa, my college roommate of 3 1/2 years from Baylor. She's the one who taught me to hold on to the end of the car bumper to steady myself when I needed to use the bathroom in the middle of nowhere East Texas (because there were no toilet facilities within a 30 mile radius.) Landa didn't know about Joanne's passing, so I updated her with a quick update. She knows a lot about family dynamics, so I filled her in with the how & why's. We plan to get together later this week for a long phone call chat.
My last get-together was a Bunco group that I hadn't seen since October. It was nice getting together with a wonderful group of women with such charming personalities and witty sense of humor. I also found a wonderful wine that I must get a (few) bottles of at Whole Foods, which I was told was an inexpensive $6. Quite a delightful merlot that I imbibed this evening!
It was just amazing to me how I had many remembrances of Joanne today, with various people in my life. Just reminds me that she's never really that far away.
