If I had a million dollars...

I am a huge Barenaked Ladies fan. I saw them my first time in Birmingham's City Stages 10 years ago. I remember the "friendly finger" and their quick witted "rap & rhyme" they would do.

They came to Austin and played at The Backyard this past weekend. And since I was desperate to go, I even took my mother Brenda as my date. It was great fun - 15 rows, front & center.

But what cracked me up at this concert besides a fully stocked bar (liquor & beer!), was that the lines were pretty long and this one guy was trying to play the quickest line first. He eventually landed behind me & Brenda and made some smarmy comment about how the line was going quicker because of our pretty faces and we looked like we were having a good time - yadayadayada.

But after this little exchange, Brenda whispers in my ear "Stand up straight!"
Nothing like your mother trying to get you to put your best foot forward to make a good impression! Thank GOD I washed behind my ears before the concert!

What exactly is the "friendly finger"?
