Here I am, my dirty little secret. I'm on the couch watching in utter fascination the Britney bomb that just happened.
I confess that my VMA obsession started back in the mid-80's with Madonna's "Like a Virgin" famous performance. Rolling around on stage in a wedding dress and tulle with heavy eyeliner. That's a classic. I even remember some good moments in MTV VMA history: When Lil Kim wore the nip covers and she walked out with LA DIVA Diana Ross who looked at her with a look of WTF and flipped Lil Kim's boob. NOT KIDDING. Another good moment for VMA was when the transvestites wore Madonna outfits that all represented certain pieces of her eras. They were pretty damn hot for men being women. She walked up to each of them and inspected them up & down. If that were me I'd have passed out completely being that close to Madge.
I watch MTV VMA's mainly to see what the kiddos are watching these days, and of course to get my fix of pop music culture. But right now, I'm not relating very well. A little less rap crap that is getting bleeped out making it even more incomprehensible, and a little more other good up and coming artists. Oh - and everyone QUIT voting for Amy Winehouse. I've had to change my ringtone because of her.
UPDATE: I just watched Chris Brown ROCK IT with a pretty damn good Michael Jackson rendition of Billie Jean dance moves. I have to say I am IM-PRUH-ESSED! Also, I'm digging Maroon 5's lastest release on their latest album "Wake Up Call".
